The Hangout 14 Ooh, It’s the Giant Girl

Please excuse the audio quality in this episode of The Hangout. The local recording was messed up, so we had to use the slightly worse quality recording.

Today we share our stories about technology disasters, our “tech nos.” Listen to the show for the stories! Thank you Chris (Sims 2 Junkie Podcast) for calling in with your story.

Next we discuss a very interesting news article entitled “Wife throws cocktail glass at husband, killing him”.

Then we answer some Would You Rather Questions. They are:
-Would you rather be 4′1″ or 7′9″?
-Would you rather live in Antarctica or Death Valley?
Thank you Currie for calling in with her answers to these questions.

Also, we’ve announced we’re having a contest for The Hangout! In the comments of the shownotes for this show, we’d like you to sign yourself up for any old episode of The Hangout (or The Brent and Skye Show) and agree to listen to that episode this week. Then, while listening, find your favorite few audio clips (no more than 2 seconds each) think you really like from the episode. Note the time that the audio clip is played, and send me and email with the episode number and the timestamp. The more you send in, the more of a chance you have at winning, but if it’s too many (by my judgement), you are considered a spammer and are disqualified from the contest. If your clip gets put into the new Hangout promo, you will get a spot on the “Promo” page of the site with any message you want (that is not profane) next to your name.

Our picks of the week:
Brent - Audiobook/book: Getting Things Done by David Allen
Sub-pick: 43folders.com
Sub-pick: Moleskine
Skye - Movie: Breakfast Club

Next week’s Would You Rather Questions Are:

a) date Sesame Street’s Bert
b) Ernie

a) for your wedding, be registered at Quizno’s
b) at the Chuck E. Cheese prize counter

We don’t have a topic next week, so feel free to call in or email in any story you’d like! We love to hear from you. Honestly, we do.

Subscribing Correctly

by Brent - July 24th, 2008 Posted in Site News | No Comments »

It has come to my attention that quite a few people are subscribed to the wrong feed in iTunes. Being subscribed to the correct feed has benefits for you and it has benefits for us. If you are subscribed to the right feed, you get all the correct ID3 tags including shownotes that are viewable on your iPod. Also, being subscribed correctly helps us get appropriate statistics and also helps us climb up in rank on the iTunes Store.

How do I know if I’m subscribed to the wrong feed?

There are multiple ways to tell if you are subscribed to the wrong feed. Open up The Hangout section in your iTunes library.

If you have any episodes that start with “EPISODE”, then it’s wrong. If you have the “clean” tag next to anything, then it’s wrong. If you see that the artist is “Brent Irwin.tv” and not “Brent Irwin”, then it’s wrong. And last, if you see that the description section starts with “EPISODE”, then it’s wrong.

How do I fix this?

First, select “The Hangout” in your iTunes Library and click on “Unsubscribe” on the bottom.

Then, head on over to www.thehangoutpodcast.com. That’s where you are right now.

Click on the iTunes button in the sidebar.

iTunes should automatically open and bring you to the appropriate page on the iTunes Store. If you are prompted for permision for iTunes to open, allow it to. Now, just click on the word “Subscribe” in the iTunes Store. Notice it says “Free” right next to it.

Now, iTunes will bring you the appropriate versions of all episodes of The Hangout every time a new one is released!

The Hangout 10 Sprayed with Tinkle

by Brent - July 3rd, 2008 Posted in Episodes | No Comments »

-contact@thehangoutpodcast.com -205.332.1917

In this episode, we discuss some of our most embarassing moments in life - many of them having to do with pee. We also share some stories of things that have been going on in our lives lately and review a news article about a burglar who changed clothes mid-burgle. Skye shares a couple of poems she’s written, too. They’re pretty spiffy.

The Hangout!

by Brent - July 2nd, 2008 Posted in Show News, Site News | No Comments »

I’ve been posting in the blog a lot lately about this podcast getting a re-branding. Well, it happened! The Brent and Skye Show will from here on out be known as The Hangout! www.thehangoutpodcast.com has been registered, it’s just not ready for use yet, so it’s not working at the moment. I’ll get it set up as soon as I can.

There is good news, though. No re-subscribing is requred! If you subscribe to The Brent and Skye Show in iTunes or any other RSS reader, it will automatically switch to The Hangout for you! Isn’t that cool?

There is bad news, though. There are so many links and images all across the website. Many of them have “brentandskye” in their title. If you find any places on the website where the link is no longer relevant, please tell me! You can email me at brent@brentirwin.tv. Normally, I’d have you send email to the podcast email address, but there isn’t really one in effect right now. I’ll fix the email-related links as soon as www.thehangoutpodcast.com gets set up. Please do help out be emailing me if you find a problem, though. I’d appreciated.

But I’d like to end this post on another positive note. The logo for The Hangout is a scalable image! Yes, that’s right! Now, We’ll be able to use this logo for putting it on t-shirts, posters, banners, whatever we want to! Before, we just had a 2500×2500 version of our album artwork. Yeah, that would print to be an 8-inch square, but what if that’s not enough? The new logo has been designed in vector, so it’s scalable! Does that mean Hangout t-shirts in the future? I don’t know…

Sneak Peek

by Brent - July 2nd, 2008 Posted in Show News, Site News | No Comments »

I’ve created the album artwork for the new name this show will have. Unfortunately, I can’t show you the logo or the name yet, since I still have yet to register the domain name. The art’s pretty much the same, but I think it looks better now. The font on the “secret” box is the font that makes up the main word of the logo.
